The Coteaux des Avelines wine estate is a small family vineyard in organic conversion that produces white and sparkling wines. The vineyard was planted in 2018 in Sart-Dames-Avelines (commune of Villers-la-Ville) and has an area of just over 1 hectare. The first vintages of the estate will be available from May 2021.
Behind this project are two crazy enthusiasts: Viviane Cleiren, farmer, and Arnaud Duchêne, engineer. This unlikely duo of « mother-in-law and son-in-law » winemakers will be delighted to show you their first three vintages during a visit to the vineyard or the cellar. It is possible to order bottles via their website.
The estate is adjacent to a Natura 2000 area with a stream and various bodies of water to protect biodiversity and provide a refuge for wild geese and ducks. The Natura 2000 area extends as far as the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville, 4 kilometres away. The vineyard can be visited with family and friends. A small wine tourism tour through the vineyards will allow adults to learn a little more about the vineyard and its terroir thanks to an application with an audio guide and geolocation, and to animate the younger ones with a treasure hunt in the vineyards and a quiz.
More information on the vineyard, its visits and its wines can be found on the website www.coteaux-des-avelines.be.
