Les Apéros de Philomène, a craft liquor store, established in a magnificent 1707 barn, offers a range of plant-based aperitifs, fruit wines, around thirty pékêts, and other local products.

Made by hand and in a natural way, Philomène’s products have delighted thousands of consumers for over 20 years.

Who is Philomène? Why is it called Pékêt? Is an aperitif with sage and poppy good? Does Pékêt Cannabis really exist?… How is it made? ». You’ll get all the answers during a guided tour which obviously ends with a tasting!

Guided tours & Tasting (5€/pers) by appointment on Sunday at 1pm.

For groups of at least 10 people other times are possible.

Micro-brewery of the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville

The Abbey’s micro-brewery is housed in an old 19th century building, the former coach house and stable of the ruins hotel. Five beers are brewed there, in the very heart of the abbey site.

During your visit, the guide presents the micro-brewery project initiated by the Confrérie des Hostieux Moines, the history of the beer of the Abbey of Villers. He then discusses the different stages of production and the installations. The visit ends of course with a tasting session.

Several options are possible:

Visit to the micro-brewery alone, by reservation (10 to 30 people, 9€/person).
Visit of the micro-brewery alone every second Saturday from March to November (9€/person).
Visit of the micro-brewery + open access to the Abbey site every second Saturday from March to November.
Combined visit of the micro-brewery and the Abbey site.

Villers-la-Vigne vineyard

Following the example of certain well-known estates in Burgundy, the vineyard is a veritable enclosed plot leaning against the ruins of an authentic Cistercian abbey. Composed of a plain and four terraces, this enchanting piece of greenery offers a unique perspective to any visitor.

Since 1990, the Confrérie du Vignoble de l’Abbaye de Villers-la-Ville has been rehabilitating the small vineyard in the abbot’s garden which had been left fallow after the sale of the abbey as a national asset in 1796. The whole of the clos has about twenty ares spread over 5 levels. The main objective of the Confrérie is to revive the former Abbey vineyard by producing a quality Belgian wine, based on a reasoned approach to viticulture and adapted modern winemaking techniques.

Visits from April to September, every first Saturday of the month at 2.30 pm. Admission is via the Abbey reception desk. It takes between 1h30 and 2 hours, tasting included.

The Confrérie also offers group visits (min. 7 people) by reservation all year round.

Visits are possible in French, Dutch, English, German and Spanish. Subject to availability of guides in the language concerned.
